Poetry and Motion

These were the themes of two of the speeches at the clubs last meeting. Maire Boyle delivering her second speech spoke about the great poets and how they were also ordinary people with ordinary lives like all of us. It was an excellent speech which had the audience captivated by her use of words. Maire Lynes as her evaluator thanked Maire for her speech and also gave her some excellent tips on how to further improve her delivery for future speeches.

David Roche followed with a speech about his love of formula one car racing. He educated the audience regarding the sport with his facts and figures including a way to experience down force when we were driving home from the meeting. Bill Martin gave David a very supportive evaluation. The third speaker of the evening was Angela Sheehan. Angela gave a very entertaining interpretative reading from a book titled ’Norwegian by Night’ by Derek B Miller. Angela’s speech was evaluated by Bridie O’Connell.

The clubs next meeting will take place on Wednesday April 16th as Thursday 17th is Holy Thursday. The meeting will commence at 8pm in the Hibernian Hotel Mallow. Guests are always most welcome and will not be asked to speak. For more information on toastmasters check us out on our website www.speakeasytoastmasters .com or follow us on Facebook or Twitter.
