A Warm Welcome in the Hibernian Hotel

Teamwork Behind the Scenes

A Toastmasters meeting depends on many moving parts, and the supporting team ensured the event ran like clockwork.

Pat Sexton led the impromptu speaking session as Topicsmaster, Juan Marina Camarasa kept careful watch on time, and Trevor O’Sullivan served as General Evaluator for the evening.
The role of Grammarian went to Liam Flynn, who listened closely for effective language and word usage throughout the night.

A reflective moment came during Poet’s Corner, where Claire O’Connell shared her self-written poem, “Seasons Played.” The piece beautifully echoed the themes of change and continuity associated with Brigid.

Speeches Inspired by Heritage

The prepared speeches offered a rich variety of interpretations connected to the evening’s theme.

Paul Corcoran opened the speaking session with “The Exalted One,” a speech that drew on history and reverence of Brigit as Goddess. Bobby Buckley provided the evaluation, offering supportive and practical feedback.

Next, Marie Lynes asked the question “Who Was St Brigid?” and guided the audience through story and tradition. Her speech was evaluated by Helsa Giles.

The third speech came from Rachel Liston, whose “A Cross of Rushes” explored one of the most recognisable symbols associated with the saint. Michael Cronin delivered the evaluation.
