On Thursday night last guests and members were treated to excellent night of speechmaking at the clubs speech and evaluation contest. The speakers captured the audience attention with their thought provoking messages. The contest was conducted very effectively by the contest chair Tony O’ Regan who ensured the evening ran smoothly. He was helped by Anne Buckley who as topicsmaster created a very entertaining topics session.
The speech contest tested the judge’s skills as the standard was very high. In the end Pat Sexton was awarded second place with Deirdre Linehan judged the winner of the 2014 contest. Both will go forward to compete at the next level which is the Area final which will be held at the Failte Club in Charleville on April 14th.
After the tea break the evaluation contest took place. Guest speaker Ivan O’Sullivan gave a very informative speech regarding sun storms. The contestants then followed giving the speaker very helpful and motivating evaluations. The judges deemed Pat Sexton as the winner with Ray Ryan in second place. Both will go forward to the Area final.
The clubs next meeting will take place on Thursday April 3rd at 8pm in the Hibernian Hotel Mallow. Guests are always most welcome and will not be asked to speak. For more information on toastmasters check us out on our website www.speakeasytoastmasters .com or follow us on Facebook or Twitter.
